American Artist Posts Manga-Inspired Wonder Woman Pitch
Caldwell's is at least 2nd manga-influenced Wonder Woman proposal to DC.

Between June and July, American comics artist Ben Caldwell posted images from his pitch to the American publisher DC for a manga-inspired Wonder Woman comic. He commented that he was unsure if DC would consider his proposal and noted that a previous attempt at a Wonder Woman manga-influenced comic was rejected. On July 31, Caldwell posted the entire pitch, but said that "it will certainly never happen" because the company's response was that its attempts at "kids comics are 'loss leaders' that never turn a profit."

Another manga-influenced American artist named Lea Hernandez (Killer Princesses, Marvel Mangaverse: Punisher) added in a comment to Caldwell that the previous attempt was by Hamlet: The Manga Edition artist TinTin Pantoja, who posted her magical girl-esque take on Wonder Woman on her official website.

In 2004, DC Comics launched a manga imprint called CMX. The line published manga for a varied audience, including the manga titles Victorian Romance Emma, Tenjho Tenge, and Gon. This past July, CMX was shut down. Several DC Comics characters have been made into manga-influenced adaptations, including Jiro Kuwata's 1960s take on Batman and At Death's Door, an American manga-inspired comic (under DC's Vertigo imprint) based on the Sandman character Death.
