The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya film, the first ever film in the Haruhi Suzumiya franchise, fell from the top 10 in its third weekend on Variety and Rentrak Theatrical's chart after debuting at #6 during the February 6-7 weekend. The film had opened at #7 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's box office
chart of the top 10 films, but fell from that chart in its second weekend.

According to Box Office Mojo, Kyoto Animation's Haruhi Suzumiya film charted at #11 during the February 20-21 weekend, earning US$449,591 in 24 theaters for a per-screen average of US$18,733, and a US$3,850,649 total to date.

By contrast, Macross Frontier ~Itsuwari no Utahime~, the first Macross Frontier film, earned US$3,529,604 by its first three weekend on 30 screens. In the Haruhi Suzumiya film, chief director Tatsuya Ishihara and director Yasuhiro Takemoto adapted the franchise's fourth light novel from Nagaru Tanigawa and Noizi Ito.

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger vs. Go-onger Ginmaku Bang!, a live-action film featuring a crossover between Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Engine Sentai Go-onger, fell from #8 to #10 on Kogyo Tsushina's chart during its fourth weekend in the box office. The film fell from Rentrak Theatrical's chart during the February 13-14 weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, the film charted at #12, earning US$430,353 on 174 screens for a total-to-date of US$4,566,973.

James Cameron's Avatar science-fiction action movie, which stayed at #1 for the ninth straight weekend, earned a weekend box office take of US$4,415,738 on 617 screens. That gives the film a per-screen average of US$7,157 and a total-to-date of US$129,543,968.
