Visual-kei band inspired by Mayu Shinjo's manga marks 10th anniversary

Lucifer, the real-life visual-kei band inspired by the band of the same name in Mayu Shinjo's Sensual Phrase (Kaikan Phrase) manga and anime, will reunite for a 10th anniversary live tour in Japan this summer. The band's 10th anniversary website will open on Tuesday to announce further details of the concerts in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. Shinjo had revealed the existence of the 10th anniversary website in an April 8 blog entry and hinted at Lucifer's return.

Shinjo's original Sensual Phrase manga ran in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi (Shōjo Comic) magazine from 1997 to 2000, and Viz Media published it in North America. A television anime adaptation ran from 1999 to 2000, and the Lucifer visual-kei band was formed in real life specifically to perform theme songs for the anime. The band's debut single, "Datenshi Blue," was released in September of 1999 as the anime's second opening theme song. The band members all assumed the fictional names of the characters from the manga, except for vocalist Makoto. The band broke up in January of 2003.
